OUR STORY

It all started in 2020. TAARA was born out of the urgent need to address the growing problem of sex trafficking during the COVID-19 pandemic. As the pandemic raged on, it became clear that sex trafficking was at an all-time high, with criminals taking advantage of increased chaos, vulnerability, and demand for illicit content as life moved online. The United Nations reported that the COVID-19 pandemic had worsened human trafficking, and cases of online child sexual exploitation had surged worldwide.
Our team recognized the critical need to support survivors of sex trafficking after they were rescued and equip them with education, vocational skills and resources to successfully reintegrate into society. Simultaneously, we understood the necessity of educating our youth and community about the widespread issue of sex trafficking.
TAARA has been run almost entirely by dedicated volunteers since its founding.
