Prevention Program in India
TAARA’s Awareness Program in India: Preventing Future Victimization Through Education
At TAARA, we believe that awareness and education are pivotal in preventing sex trafficking and empowering individuals. Our robust survivor empowerment program spans multiple states in India, where we have identified a critical need for impactful awareness tools to prevent future victimization among key demographics.
A Comprehensive Yearlong Curriculum
In response to this need, we have developed a yearlong curriculum in Hindi, India’s most commonly spoken national language. Our curriculum addresses vital topics such as:
- Self-Worth: Building a strong sense of self
- Boundary setting
- Sextortion: Understanding the dangers and recognizing warning signs. We cover each social media app in-depth, explaining in great detail how perpetrators solicit teens and how to recognize when they are being catfished or groomed.
- Signs of Vulnerability: Identifying situations and behaviors that may increase risk.
- Safety Tools: Practical strategies to stay safe in various environments.
- Effective Communication: Enhancing communication skills for better interaction with parents and guardians so difficult and uncomfortable conversation can be had to make way for reduced vulnerability.
- Helpline Information: Providing essential resources for immediate help and support.
Structured and Creative Teaching Approach
Our dedicated teachers travel to different schools, engaging children and teens through a structured and creative teaching approach. This ensures that the lessons are not only understood but also retained and applied in real life situations. By using interactive methods and relatable content, we make learning about these critical issues engaging and impactful.
Partnerships with Established NGOs
To extend TAARA’s program to a wider audience, we work in partnership with other established NGOs in the education sector. By collaborating with these organizations, we are able to reach more students and integrate our structured and creative teaching approach into their existing educational frameworks. These partnerships enable us to amplify our impact and ensure that even more young individuals benefit from our program.
Measuring Impact
To ensure the effectiveness of our program, we measure the impact of the curriculum at the end of each topic covered through Q&A and roleplay. This ongoing evaluation helps us refine our approach and maximize the positive outcomes for the students.
Expanding Our Reach
TAARA has reached over 20,000 students to date, and an additional 4,000 by the end of 2024. With plans to significantly increase this number in 2025 and beyond, we are committed to extending our reach and making a profound difference in the lives of young individuals across India.
Join Our Mission
Through TAARA’s Awareness Program in India, we strive to create a safer and more informed community. By empowering young minds with knowledge and tools, we are not only preventing future victimization but also fostering a generation that is resilient and self-aware.
Join us in our mission to educate and empower. Together, we can create lasting change and protect future generations from the horrors of sex trafficking.
